3001:  HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT I

For this course we learned about the child early coming ups, we had an introduction to the list of philosophers who have different theories about human growth development. Adding to the different information we learn in this course. For our final exam, we had to read a book, "A child called It" by Dave Pelzer. I think that book changed our life forever, deftly for me. I am not one to cry easily, and the book keep showing you moments where all you could do is cry and scream at the book for someone to help him. For this course I had to answers how I feel about certain neurologists, for instance Freud, his theory is intriguing, but I don't agree with some point that he makes. Overall, excellent class to introduce us to the different ways a child may act depending on circumstances and if they have any conditions.

3002: HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT II

For this course, our big project was a small play, to which I was tasked to write some parts and edit the play. Our topic was family problems and alcohol problems, from there we parted and created our small play. We had costumes, change of scenario and props to help us create the image we had in mind. We wanted to portray how much alcohol can affect a family and the drastic consequences of been addicted to alcohol. I am very proud of the work done and from it, I learn different aspect of special effects and as well as learning a big quantity of lines. Overall, the course was very hands-on than just gathering info, which was a refreshing change.

3007:  SOCIAL FOUNDATIONS OF EDUCATION

For this course, our major project was a 50 mins presentation on the Law of the Magisterial Race (Ley de la Carrera Magisterial). This law is made for raises, retirement, the plan of evaluating each scholastic, and the continuing education. Its main purpose is to regulate the relations between the State and the teachers who provide services in public educational institutions and programs of basic and technical productive education and in the instances of decentralized educational management. This course was very informative, focusing on the social aspects of education. It was extensive the information I received from this course, but most importantly, how it works the aspect of education by adding laws and policies. An interesting course that was enriching in knowledge.

4019: PHILOSOPHICAL FOUNDATIONS OF EDUCATION

For this course we were assigned an educational philosophy, I was given reconstructionism. It is an educational philosophy that perceives social reality in a state of crisis, and the school system and universities as centers of intellectual activity to conjure it. This philosophy arises from pedagogues who say to be able to solve the problems of society by reforming schools. Learning about this educational philosophy and other as well, was interesting and fascinated to go knees deep on the topics. I learn the different strategies for using each one and learning which ones to apply depending on the student, place and circumstance.

3017: EVALUATION OF LEARNING

I choose the multi-genre portfolio because it was very educational and fun to work on. Working on this assignment I could notice my improvements from starting the class and the difference in knowledge from the beginning to the end. Each part of the portfolio was precisely made while having in mind the students and how they will react the story of “The Stolen Party”. The class helped me reach the knowledge on assessments that I have now. After making this portfolio I am confident of my future a teacher and pleased with my accomplished in this class.

This portfolio helps the students and the teacher to be organized and have everything documented. I selected this story because I found it fun and educational, it brings the subject of poor people with rich people, and most importantly the symbols and the ending of the story. The first assignment of writing the plot of the story is for the student to refresh the story on their minds for the next assignments. The second assignment I choose it because the end is most important part of the story where the readers feel as giddy as the protagonist and then their spirits are crush. I wanted to see the students’ reactions to such an ending. The third assignment was chosen because I want the students to go deeper behind the actions of the characters, to enter the characters mind and analyze why they done what they done in the story. Since the students most have feel an injustice and helpless when reading the ending I wanted them while using a diagram to express how they would have reacted if they were the protagonist. I gave them a checklist, for them to evaluate themselves if they are doing and reaching the desired goal for each assignment. The last assignment is to write an essay where they analyze and interpret the story’s tittle, which I believe is an important aspect to the story because it correlates with the phrase stolen childhood or innocence, since the protagonist got face with the harsh reality of her place on the birthday party. A rubric is provided where they are graded by: the student turn in the essay on time, the student wrote 6-8 sentences per paragraph, supporting evidence, correct spelling and grammar, organization and relevance to the story’s title. I felt like I was a real teacher coming up with ideas to give the students works to analyze the story, since it has many meanings involves.
